HOLIDAYS

Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up and I want to make them special for our little family. We are growing and need to start some of our own traditions. I want to have some traditions that help us to focus on Jesus Christ. I've been trying to think of a few for each holiday but I would also love some help. Here is what I've thought of:

Thanksgiving:
-have a fast in November of just giving thanks...
-On thanksgiving all say something you are thankful for...
(that's really all I can think of, any other ideas?)

Christmas:
-Advent calendar with thoughts each day
-each getting a gift on Christmas that helps us remember the savior
-Focus on giving more than getting
-secret santa/angel gifts, everyone in family has someone elses name and does things for them secretly throughout the christmas season
(any more?)

My mom once had a binder of 25 different inspirational Christmas stories. It would take a lot of work to compile them, but for the month of Christmas you could read one story as a family each day.

For the advent calendar you could use a scripture for each day that goes through the story of Christ's birth.

For Thanksgiving you could write a note once a week to someone who has recently touched your life and say thanks. Or send a note to someone who might need a little extra love.

Hope the ideas help!
